Silicon and strontium abundances of very metal-poor stars determined from near-infrared spectra

چکیده

Silicon and Strontium are key elements to explore the nucleosynthesis chemical evolution of Galaxy by measurements very metal-poor stars. There are, however, only a few useful spectral lines these in optical range that measurable for such low-metallicity Here we report on abundances two determined from near-infrared high-resolution spectra obtained with Subaru Telescope Infrared Doppler instrument (IRD). Si as many 26 six extremely stars (-4.0<[Fe/H]<-1.5), which significantly improves reliability abundance measurements. All stars, including three carbon-enhanced objects, show over-abundances ([Si/Fe]~+0.5). Two [Fe/H]~-1.5 have relatively small over-abundances. The [Mg/Si] ratios agree solar value, except one star carbon excess. triplet four first time. consistency Sr require further examination additional observations.

Abundances in Very Metal-Poor Stars

Metal-poor stars provide information on the characteristics and chemical evolution of the halo population of the Galaxy, the first epoch of star formation and Galaxy formation (not just locally but with relevance to high-redshift objects), and big bang nucleosynthesis. This review looks at recent developments in this subject.

Carbon and Strontium Abundances of Metal-Poor Stars

We present carbon and strontium abundances for 100 metal-poor stars measured from R∼7000 spectra obtained with the Echellette Spectrograph and Imager at the Keck Observatory. Using spectral synthesis of the G-band region, we have derived carbon abundances for stars ranging from [Fe/H]= −1.3 to [Fe/H]= −3.8. The formal errors are ∼ 0.2 dex in [C/Fe]. The strontium abundance in these stars was me...

Europium Isotopic Abundances in Very Metal-poor Stars

Europium isotopic abundance fractions are reported for the very metal-poor, neutron-capture-rich giant stars CS 22892-052, HD 115444, and BD +17◦3248. The abundance fractions, derived from analysis of several strong Eu II lines appearing in high-resolution spectra of these stars, are in excellent agreement with each other and with their values in the Solar System: fr(Eu)≃ fr(Eu) ≃ 0.5. Detailed...

Oxygen Abundances in Metal-poor Stars

We present oxygen abundances derived from both the permitted and forbidden oxygen lines for 55 subgiants and giants with [Fe/H] values between −2.7 and solar with the goal of understanding the discrepancy in the derived abundances. A first attempt, using Teff values from photometric calibrations and surface gravities from luminosities, obtained agreement between the indicators for turn-off star...

Beryllium abundances in metal - poor stars ⋆

We have determined beryllium abundances for 25 metal-poor stars based on the high resolution and high signal-to-noise ratio spectra from the VLT/UVES database. Our results confirm that Be abundances increase with Fe, supporting the global enrichment of Be in the Galaxy. Oxygen abundances based on [O i] forbidden line implies a linear relation with a slope close to one for the Be vs. O trend, wh...
